Location. Located in the midst of Newport's bustling harbor front, Fairfield Inn on the Harbor is within a short walk of an endless array of Rhode Island attractions. The inn is just one block from Spring Street, the main thoroughfare of the Historic Hill district. The district is home to the "cottages", summer mansions constructed by the extremely wealthy during the late 19th and early 20th century. Fantastic shopping, dining, and entertainment options are just out the front door of the inn, with Thames Street hosting the most numerous and popular venues in town.
Hotel Features. Looking out over the bay, the inn features its own restaurant, Sabrina Doyle's, which serves Irish cuisine and is open for lunch and dinner. The front desk staff is on hand 24 hours and there is a business center offering complimentary wireless Internet access. Safe deposit boxes are located in the lobby and dry cleaning service is available. Guests receive complimentary access to a nearby fitness center. The inn hosts a complimentary wine and cheese reception every Monday evening.
Guestrooms. Remodeled in 2004, each of the one bedroom accommodations features a full kitchen with a range, a refrigerator and a microwave oven. Complimentary dial up Internet access is offered and cable television and DVD players are standard.
Expert Tip. Just under two miles from the inn, The Breakers mansion belonged to the Vanderbilt family and boasts original furnishings and a massive cubed hall sheathed in marble. The Cliff Walk, a 3.5 mile walkway, borders the back lawn of the Breakers and many of the other Newport mansions.
