Location. The Red Lion Hotel overlooks the River Thames in the town of Henley on Thames, England. Henley is 13 miles from Windsor Castle, one of the residences of the Queen.
Hotel Features. This privately owned hotel is housed in a typically English red brick period building with wisteria clad walls. Parts of the hotel date back to the 15th century and the public areas have many original antiques. Wireless Internet access is available and limited hours room service is offered.
The Red Lion Restaurant serves modern English dishes in a traditional setting.
Business services are available as are meeting facilities.
The hotel's riverside situation means that fishing, boating and walking are all available.
Guestrooms. The 26 guestrooms, many with river views, are decorated in English country style and have antique style furnishings. All are equipped with television, wireless Internet access and direct dial phones. Other standard amenities include coffee/tea makers and trouser presses. Designer toiletries, hair dryers and makeup mirrors are all provided in the bathrooms.
Expert Tip. An inn has occupied the site of the Red Lion for over 600 years. Guests have included King Charles I and King George IV, who is said to have eaten 14 mutton chops there one evening.
